Margaret Sams Consulting
Established in 2006, Margaret Sams Consulting has completed hundreds of geomorphological and soil genesis studies to assist cultural resource investigations for public and private projects throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia, within a wide variety of environmental contexts. Soils and landform analyses have been completed for Phase I, II, and III Investigations on projects as complex as a pipeline route through five counties to a simple bridge replacement over a first-order stream. Margaret Sams Consulting holds Unified Certification as a DBE Woman-Owned Business Enterprise in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Arkansas, and West Virginia, and is also a certified DBE through the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.
The information Margaret Sams Consulting provides regarding landforms and soil genesis assists archaeological teams in developing an efficient testing strategy, allowing excavations to concentrate in areas with the potential to contain intact archaeological resources, and to delineate and exclude areas with no potential for the presence of intact archaeological materials.
Margaret Sams Consulting has participated with several teams which were successful in securing large open-end contracts with several PennDOT districts, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the West Virginia Division of Highways, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, The Delaware Department of Transportation, and the Maryland State Highway Administration. Margaret Sams looks forward to continuing her strong and cooperative working relationships with both client and agency personnel, as well as creating new networks dedicated to the professional and efficient management of our valuable cultural resources.
